Uziel Angel was a Mexican-American inventor, famous for his contributions to the firearms world. He was born in 1923 in Mexico and grew up in Los Angeles. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he studied engineering and began his career at the aerospace company, Douglas Aircraft.
Angel's most notable invention was the Uzi submachine gun, which he created in the late 1940s while serving in the Israeli army as a weapons designer. The Uzi has since become one of the most iconic firearms in history and is still used by military and law enforcement agencies around the world.
Aside from the Uzi, Angel also invented several other firearms, including the Galil rifle and the Mini-Uzi. He received numerous awards for his contributions to the industry, including induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2007. Angel passed away in 2007 at the age of 84.
